Ximena Gamboa: COSMIC FLUX

Ximena Gamboa Nieto is a Mexican painter and visual artist. Based in Helsinki since 2023, her work revolves around exploring the random as the force that drives the expansion of the universe. The visuals in her art are inspired by patterns representing the pass of time, such as smoke dissipating into thin air, snowflakes swirling around the atmosphere or intricate arrangements of pebbles in rivers’ sediments. In her meticulous weaving of colour, she studies the entropy of color itself. In her work, color represents the subconscious mind, a force of its own kind.
"Cosmic Flux" explores the unpredictable forces shaping both the universe and our inner worlds. Through abstraction, color, and movement, my work captures life's fluidity—its uncertainties, fleeting moments, and mysteries. This exhibition is a meditation on chaos, the power of the subconscious, and the beauty of randomness.
I paint to explore “The Random”—the chaotic energy that fuels the expansion of the universe. This force, unpredictable and primal, exists in a dimension beyond time and matter, a void laced with infinite possibilities. It is both the source of cosmic mystery and the texture of daily life, revealing itself in the suddenness of events, the unpredictability of existence, and the ongoing desire to understand the origin and fate of all things.
When I paint, I enter a meditative state—a state of emptiness where I follow rather than direct. This process is my ritual, an act born from inner necessity. The Random speaks not in words, but in currents, colors, and textures. With each brushstroke, I connect deeply with my intuition, allowing something deeper, older, and universal to emerge on the canvas.
I work with layering and contrasting chromatic opposites, saturating them into a shared hue to evoke depth and ambiguity—reflecting the complexity I observe in the world around me. Each piece reflects a search for meaning within uncertainty, grounded by resilience, presence, and the quiet rituals of daily life.
